#BeProud: Beirut Pride Week 2018 Kicks Off

Today marks the start to one of our favorite weeks of the year! Beirut Pride Week 2018 will host a series of uplifting and inspiring events taking place every day from today until the 20th of May.

Beirut Pride Week is here to spread messages of love, tolerance, and pride towards LGBTQ+ communities in the country. Pride week will kick off today with an extravagant performance by our favorite local advocate for gender equality and LGBTQ+ rights, Khansa, the stunning physical poet and multidisciplinary artist with an earth-shattering voice that serves to reshape this society’s notions of gender and masculinity. Alongside him, Alsarah & the Nubatones, a Brooklyn-based East-African Retro-Pop musical sensation.

Throughout the week, Beirut Pride will host a series of awe-inspiring, love-filled, and tolerance-spreading events ranging from poetry readings, kickass ‘queereeoke’, open talks about sexual health, a legal workshop, a storytelling night, a gender neutral fashion show, ending the week of pride with a bang in the form of a feel-good party in our favorite party neighborhood, Mar Mikhael.

We look forward to this week of rainbow flags and happy faces, encouraging us all to #BeProud of who we are no matter what our gender, sexual orientation, or personal identities are.
