Rivoli Cinema To Reopen In Tyre After 29 Years Of Neglect

After re-opening Nabatiyeh’s Stars Cinema in 2016 after 27 years of it being closed, actor and director Kassem Istanbouli is happy to announce his new major project: the reopening of Tyre’s Rivoli Cinema.

Rivoli has been closed for 29 years and will be back in business as of October 27, 2018. It’s re-opening will be the launch event of the Tiro Art Festival 2018, a cinematic, theatrical, and artistic gathering.

Under Istanbuli’s direction, Tyre has experienced a boom in cultural activities and festivals. The Al Hamra Cinema experience has proven that a well managed cultural space has the ability to attract all sorts of artistic activities to the city, bringing people together to learn, work on common projects, and enjoy themselves. The best part? The management of the Al Hamra cinema made sure that all events, festivals, and screenings are completely free to the public.

Rivoli Cinema was renowned between the years of 1959 and 1988 for bringing cinema and theater to the coastal town – a space for culture to prosper and be exchanged by the sea. The cinema has been abandoned since 1988, but will reopen thanks to Istanbouli’s theatrical determination.
