The 27th day of the Lebanese revolution witnessed the re-ignition of protests across different Lebanese areas, prompted by President Aoun’s televised interview which aired on Tuesday night, November 12.

And while tensions rose as people expressed their anger over Aoun’s statements, the night took a heart-wrenching turn when the revolution claimed its second martyr.
Alaa Abou Fakher, a Lebanese man and father of three, was shot right in front of his wife and son in Khalde, while he was attempting to block the roads in protest of the President’s televised interview.
He was taken to Kamal Jumblatt Hospital in a critical condition where he passed away shortly after, succumbing to his wounds.
Though the shooter reportedly turned himself in later, the original video showed him fleeing the scene.
Hardly any of us can get his family’s screams out of our head, or the sight of Abou Fakher’s bloodied body on the ground. At the scene of his murder, heartbroken citizens came together to light candles and honor his memory, and on social media, infuriated citizens took the time to grieve over the martyr.
