Icon Of The Lebanese Revolution Summoned To Military Court

Remember the iconic Lebanese woman who kicked Akram Chehayeb’s armed bodyguard in self-defense on the very first day of the protests?

Of course you do.

Shortly after this badass video went viral, Malak Alaywe Herz was rightfully named the icon of the Lebanese revolution.

But now, nearly four months later, that same image is resurfacing for an entirely different purpose: a court order.

Malak’s husband took to Facebook earlier today to announce that his wife had been summoned to military court over her actions captured in that picture.

Loosely translated, his caption reads:

“The protests have died down and the courts are back in action. My wife was summoned to the military court over this photo. Welcome to the string of court cases, this is only the beginning. You should be proud of yourself!”

Mouhamad and Malak got married on October 23rd, in the heart of Riad El Soloh. Their wedding was celebrated by protestors and onlookers all around, and even got a decent amount of media coverage.
