Heartbreaking AFP Photo Series Shows Lebanese Posing With Their Empty Fridges

As part of a project intended to show the crushing reality of the Lebanese economic crisis, Agence France-Presse (AFP) published a series of photos that were truly jarring.

Dozens of citizens standing in front of bare and empty fridges, giving us insight into the heartbreaking financial strain families all around the country have been experiencing for so long. With hundreds of thousands of jobs cut, an economy and currency that has completely tanked, and no end to the crisis in sight, we can only expect to see more heartbreaking images like these.



The pictures were taken by photographers Mahmoud Zayyat, Ibrahim Chalhoub, Joseph Eid, and Anwar Amro for AFP.
