Child Dies Due To Lack Of Oxygen Machines In Several Lebanese Hospitals

Heart-wrenching news circulated today as a toddler identified as Rihana Ali Shoucair from Baalbeck passed away due to the lack of oxygen in several hospitals in Beqaa, all of which she was admitted to in an attempt to save her life.

The young girl had suffocated while in the shower, and required immediate medical care but was failed by our health system and the lack of dire medical substances.

As she frantically spent hours trying to find oxygen for her daughter, Rihana passed away in her mother’s arms.

We offer our sincerest condolences to her family, and hope that her pure soul rests in peace.

Earlier this month, the President of the Syndicate of Private Hospitals in Lebanon, Sleiman Haroun, warned that Lebanese hospitals are experiencing a shortage of essential medical supplies due to the crumbling economy and the devaluation of the national currency. And of course, it is always the innocent citizen who bears the brunt of crises in Lebanon, while authorities never have to worry about losing a family member at the doors of a hospital.

This is only the tip of the iceberg should the economic situation continue to deteriorate. Will they be able to save the medical sector before it’s too late?
