Hariri Says He Is Open To Being The Next Lebanese Prime Minister…Again

During an interview with MTV’s Marcel Ghanem, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri said he is open to being the next PM and that he would be contacting the various political parties to see whether they are committed to a unified governmental plan. The plan in questions is one that will resume discussions with the International Monetary Fund, imposing new taxes on citizens and privatizing different parts of government.

“I will not close the door on the only hope left for Lebanon to stem this collapse,” he said.

Parliamentary consultations to select a new Prime Minister-elect have been scheduled for October 15.

Hariri’s announcement comes just a few days days before the one year anniversary of the October 17 revolution, which was the catalyst that brought him to resign back in 2019.
