Racist Hashtag Calls For Lebanese To Be Vaccinated First, Not Refugees
The racist hashtag #اللقاح_للبناني_اولا has been trending on Twitter since last night, further proving that Lebanon’s social situation is far more plagued than one might think.
While some found the hashtag completely abhorrent and racist, others were quick to defend it as ‘completely necessary,’ expressing that Lebanese citizens should have priority over other nationalities residing in Lebanon — refugees in particular.
Some of the racists insisted that Lebanese citizens should get vaccinated first “before any foreigner!”, and “those who don’t like, can go back to their country!” as was tweeted by several accounts this morning. These are most likely the same people who are trying to fly to Dubai to get vaccinated.
The same party argues the fact that this is not an act of racism but rather patriotism. While vaccines have not been proven to test your loyalty as a citizen, they have become the leading indicator for racism.
