Tripoli Last Night: 41 Injuries And Clashes With Security Forces

Amid horrifying living conditions, citizens in the northern city of Tripoli took to the streets yesterday in order to protest strict lockdown measures that have left them penniless.

As crowds gathered, security forces used teargas and fired rubber bullets directly at citizens. From the looks of the videos, the security forces’ response grew more and more aggressive, with dozens of tanks being deployed to the area.

The nearly month-long lockdown has left many without any income, unable to feed themselves and their families throughout Lebanon’s massive economic crisis.

The Lebanese Red Cross reported a total of 41 injuries, 12 of which had to be moved to nearby hospitals.

In a show of solidarity, another protest was held in the southern city of Saida later that day.
