If your house was blown to smithereens due to governmental negligence and you then received THE TINIEST BIT of financial aid or support, the Lebanese government would like you to file that as a taxable income under the new Decision 47/1.
The decision was initially intended to provide exemption to those affected by August 4 of such taxation, but ends up explicitly stating that any donations they have received or will receive are to be considered “income” that is subject to tax.
That’s right, the men in suits who run this jungle think that getting 500,000 Lebanese Lira to fix your crumbling roof, shattered glass, your daughter’s eyeballs, and everything else that exploded and tore your life apart on August 4 is a taxable profit.
