9 Months Later: 200 Portraits Of Blast Victims Installed In Beirut

Artist Brady Black has paid tribute to the victims of the August 4 blast by hand-drawing their portraits and giving them center stage in Downtown Beirut. This art installation coincided with the 9 month anniversary of the blast, an anniversary that was marked with frustration and anger as citizens are still awaiting answers and accountability.

Black’s portraits featured all the known victims, including 2-year-old Isaac, 3-year-old Alexandra, and the hundreds of others who perished due to governmental negligence.

This marks the 9th month of no accountability nor justice, and comes amid an ongoing push and pull between the judiciary and the state.

May all the victims rest in peace, our condolences once again to their families and loved ones.
