With summer right around the corner, our nature lovers are itching to pack their bags, hop in their cars, and take a road trip to one of Lebanon’s marvelous nature reserves.

For a change of scenery, fresh air, and clear icy water, here are 5 astoundingly beautiful waterfalls to drive to and enjoy a chill day with your friends and family.

1. Baatara Gorge Waterfall

Also known as Balou’ Bala’a is located in Tannourine, 76 kms from Beirut. This awe-striking waterfall drops 255 meters into a natural sinkhole. It is renowned for its cave of Jurassic limestone, also known as the Cave of the Three Bridges, located on the Lebanon Mountain Trail.

2. Afqa Waterfall

This one is for you Mythology lovers!
In Greek Mythology, the majestic Afqa Waterfall marks the place where Adonis -the demi-god of beauty and desire- died at the foot of the falls. You can find the ancient ruined walls of a temple dedicated to honor the demi-god’s mother, Goddess Venus. This blissful place offers activities such as hiking, cliff jumping, and exploring.

3. Kfarhelda Waterfall

Kfarhelda Waterfall is situated in a stunning valley called Bsetines al-Issie (Gardens of Cane) and about 72 kms away from Beirut. These lovely spring waterfalls hit the banks of Nahr al-Jawz.

4. Yahchouch Waterfall

Yahchouch is home for magnificent landscapes and pine forests. Yahchouch Waterfall is also part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves network because it surrounds Jabal Moussa Nature Reserve.

5. Blue Waterfalls (Shallalat al-Zarqa)

Located in Baakline in the Chouf district, this gorgeous waterfall is known for its captivating bluish hue. There is a dine-in restaurant where you can enjoy lunch with a glorious view.
