Sibline Governmental Hospital Announces It Will Shut Down Due To Harrowing Crisis

A governmental hospital in Sibline, Chouf region has put out a notice announcing that it will sadly be closing its doors soon.

The hospital cites its inability to purchase basic necessities and medical equipment as primary reasons for this, as well as its inability to come up with the money needed to pay salaries. The hospital announced that as of Thursday, July 15th, they will no longer be admitting any patients other than dialysis patients and those in critical conditions.

The hospital then outlines what it would need in order to possibly remain open, including a donation of 3 Billion Lebanese Lira from the Ministry of Health, and wage raises for staff and employees, some of whom are currently making as little as $40 a month at the black market rate.

This is a huge blow to Lebanon’s already crumbling healthcare sector, and one that affects those who cannot afford private healthcare the most.
