The Lebanese art scene is world-renowned for its diversity and innovation and is now back with exhibitions reviving the country’s cultural hub!

Listed below are 14 active Lebanese galleries considered as landmarks for contemporary visual art in Beirut:


1. The LT Gallery, Mar Mikhael


A contemporary art gallery featuring exclusive works from prominent and emerging artists, with an aim to showcase local talent in Lebanon and abroad all while connecting the country’s contemporary scene to the public’s heart.


2. Kaf, Achrafieh


Kaf Contemporary Art Gallery is a space that displays expressions of contemporary art in all their forms created by Lebanese and international artists.


3. Art Scene, Achrafieh


Founded by interior architect and artist Rania Hammoud, this avant-garde gallery exhibits contemporary paintings, sculptures, and cool furniture made by local and regional artists, and promotes printmaking as well.


4. Art on 56th, Gemmayze


This independent contemporary art gallery presents both local and international artists showcasing artworks of various forms including painting, sculpture, work on paper, photography, and video installation.


5. The Gallerist, Sodeco


Known as the “hidden Lebanese gem of Middle Eastern art”, The Gallerist supports renowned and emerging artists from the Middle East, collectively exhibiting their works ranging from paintings and works on paper, to photography and sculptures.


6. Août Gallery, Gemmayze


Meaning “August” in French, this contemporary art space was created by Zeid Al Amin as a homage to his father who passed away due to the August 4 Beirut blast. In the aim of restoring the city’s cultural landscape, the gallery presents an interplay of cultures through works of worldwide artists.


7. Galerie Tanit, Mar Mikhael


First founded in 1972 in Munich by German artists, this fashionable gallery opened a space in Beirut hosting a series of exhibitions that explore contemporary artworks made by Lebanese and international talents.


8. Gallerie Janine Rubeiz, Raouche


Founded in the early 1990s by the daughter of Janine Rubeiz, this gallery has highly contributed to developing Beirut’s artistic scene. It exhibits local artists’ contemporary and modern works and holds a collection of over 900 historical Lebanese artworks.


9. Nadine Fayad, Achrafieh


This fine art gallery exhibits figurative paintings and sculptures along with an exclusive collection of famous original works created by the distinguished painter Raouf Rifai.


10. Mojo Art Gallery, Achrafieh


This newly opened gallery focuses mainly on promoting the works of emerging local artists to a wider audience. Their most recent collective art exhibition was titled “It’s Lemon Doubly Mix”, which featured Lebanese artists trying to make sense of the surreal reality Lebanese people currently live in.


11. Galerie Cheriff Tabet, Bourj Hammoud


This venue exhibits contemporary artists from different countries. It reopened on September 6th and its newest exhibit is being held till December 9th.


12. ARTLAB, Gemmayze


Artlab is a hub that promotes young emerging artists from Lebanon, the Middle East, and beyond, showcasing their figurative and abstract works belonging different media.


13. Agial Art Gallery, Hamra


Established in 1990, Agial is a renowned pioneer platform representing artists across different generations and showcasing a broad spectrum of Middle Eastern contemporary and modern artworks as part of a permanent collection.


14. Saleh Barakat Gallery, Clemenceau


This modern gallery was born in 2016 at the place of former Cinema Clemenceau to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Agial Art Gallery. Like Agial, it specializes in modern and contemporary art from Lebanon and the Arab world.
