Lebanon Now Has One Of The Lowest Minimum Wages Globally

This morning, and for the sixth consecutive day, the Lebanese Lira traded at record lows that have now hit 28,000 LL on the dollar.

The grueling crisis has raised the cost of living by more than seven fold, but salaries remain stagnant. Minimum wage still stands at 675,000 LL per month, translating to a meager $24.

This horrifying amount places Lebanese employees amongst the lowest minimum wage earners worldwide. In comparison, employees in Bangladesh receive a monthly minimum wage of $17.5. Gambia is at $25 monthly and Guinea Bissau is at $30. Workers in the Democratic Republic of Congo receive a minimum wage of $36 monthly.
