AUB Mourns Dr. Abdulrahim Abu-Husayn, Beloved Professor
The American University of Beirut sadly announced the passing of Dr. Abdulrahim Abu-Husayn yesterday, a beloved professor at the university’s Department of History and Archaeology.
News of Dr. Abu-Husayn’s passing was met with an outpour of love and respect for the revered professor who left his mark on so many. Colleagues, students, and friends spoke of his kindness and his jovial spirit.
After initially joining AUB back in 1971 as a student, the young PhD graduate became a professor and celebrated author in 1982. Dr. Abu-Husayn’s work has been published in English, Arabic and Turkish and explores various themes of Arab, Ottoman and, more largely, Islamic and Christian history.
Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students. May he rest in peace.
