New “Minions” Movie Reportedly Banned In Lebanon

Looks like animated movie lovers will be taking yet another hit this year as “Minions: The Rise of Gru”, the newest film in the “Despicable Me” franchise, has been reportedly banned from screening in Lebanon. Last month, Toy Story prequel “Lightyear” was also banned due to the depiction of a same-sex kiss in the movie, in a new act of censorship on children’s movies in Lebanon.

While the reason behind the ban of “The Rise of Gru” has not been officially stated, some have speculated that the decision came due to a kiss between two minions, while others believe it may have been the depiction of an evil nun.





Despite the country suffering from economic collapse, medication shortages that are killing cancer patients, and the aftermath of an explosion that decimated our city, the Lebanese state remains hyper-focused on trivial matters.
