Two Australian Women Of Lebanese Descent Killed In Shooting

Two Australian women of Lebanese descent, Lametta Fadlallah and Amy al-Hazouri, were shot dead in Sydney, Australia on Saturday, August 13. The women, 48 and 39 respectively, were shot

A staggering 16 times while sitting in a car outside Fadlallah’s house. Two other people in the car, a 20 year old man and 16 year old girl, were unharmed by the shooting.

Australian news sources citing local police believe that Hazouri was an innocent bystander as part of a potential “targetted assassination” of Fadlallah.

While commenting on possible gang links to the murder, Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said that “It’s been long held in the past that you don’t target children and women or the family. In this case, we’ve just seen the rule book completely ignored and thrown out the window. It is unprecedented. This one is now a new low.”

Her sister, Manal Raunegger, shared that Amneh “Amy” al-Hazouri was “an innocent party who was murdered in southwest Sydney on Saturday 13th August 2022.” Adding that “ Amy was the sole provider for our family in Lebanon that is currently struggling with the economic crisis in Lebanon.” Her father Khaled al-Hazouri said that his daughter was in the car because her own car had a flat tyre. Her brother-in-law, Mounir Sajad, said that the family had asked her to “avoid associating with Fadlallah.”

Her sister also shared a GoFundMe page “to carry out funeral services and transfer her body to lebanon to lay at rest.” Adding that, “We are asking family, friends and the community to donate what they can and share this page around as we require urgent funds during this time as we cannot afford this service.”

May they rest in peace.
