New Passenger Terminal At Beirut Airport To Generate 2,500 Job Opportunities

The Minister of Public Works and Transport in Lebanon’s caretaker government Ali Hamie has revealed a project to construct a new terminal at the Rafic Hariri International Airport, set to open in March of 2027.

The 19,000sqm terminal will accommodate 3.5 million annual passengers and include a commercial area, aircraft stands, and boarding lounges among other features.

Apart from aiding in resolving issues of overcrowding and lengthy wait times at Beirut’s airport, the $70 million project will also generate 2,500 job opportunities (500 direct jobs and 2,000 related jobs) and bring $122 million of investments in fresh foreign funds. There are also hopes that the airport will be able to handle 20 million passengers by 2030, as it currently accommodates 8 million annually.

Are those 2,500 jobs going to be like the 900,000+ promised back in 2018 following the Cedre conference in Paris? Stay tuned.
