Raed el-Khazen was born and raised in Beirut, Lebanon. He started his musical experience playing in bars with local cover bands in Beirut. In 1996, after receiving a scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, he moved to Boston. There, he had the chance to study with some of the greatest guitar players and musicians of today’s jazz world, but most importantly he met some of today’s best young musicians building long friendships and musical collaborations that still stand.

In 1999, upon graduation, Raed moved to New York City, where he played, recorded and performed within a large array of musical styles and situations. These experiences helped shape his sound and approach to his instrument, taking his interpretation away from stylistic genres to a more personal model.
In 2009, he decided to move back to his home town and ventured in the partnership of b-root Productions with Jana Saleh. Raed has been investing his efforts in the development of regional artists while moving forward in his personal career.
