In a shocking plot-twist it seems that the Onion, popular satirical news website, has bested an Iranian news station.
Known for its ridiculous content, the Onion posted a story headlined “Rural Whites Prefer Ahmadinejad to Obama” this past week. Little did they know that there story would get picked up by Iran’s own Fars News Agency, depicting the satire as reality.
The article’s outlandish claims hit a home run with the statement “According to the same Gallup poll, 60 percent of rural whites said they at least respected that Ahmadinejad doesn’t try to hide the fact that he’s Muslim.”
Wishful thinking, Iran. We’ve all been Onion’ed.
