Spotted: Oppa Mecca Style Graffiti

Spotted by @kareemdaoui somewhere on Hamra was this rather… questionable piece of art.

“Oppa Mecca Style”, which can be found somewhere on Hamra street, features a rough drawing of a woman wearing the niqab doing the Gangam Style dance. The graffiti artist even went the extra mile and scribbled “Sexy Lady” beneath it, making the entire thing even more absurd, if possible.

So what was the motivation behind this piece? A satire on a bad viral pop song? A critique of the laws of Saudi? Or just some guy trying to be funny?

In any case, anonymous graffiti artist, you did make me chuckle. In an entertained, albeit confused, sort of way.
