Kidnappers Want $1 million for 12-Year-Old Lebanese Boy

In an absolutely horrifying turn on the recent rise of kidnapping events in Lebanon, The Daily Star reports that a 12-year-old boy was kidnapped at gunpoint in the Beirut suburb of Jnah on Wednesday.

The kidnappers are asking for a $1 million ransom and threatening to kill Mohammad Nibal Awada, whose father is reportedly a wealthy businessman, if their demand is not met. Awada’s father has reportedly asked the kidnappers to reduce the sum, saying he could only secure $50,000.

Kidnapping has been on an alarming rise recently, with three businessmen reported kidnapped in the past few weeks alone.
