The Most Unsubtle Front Page of the Week

On Friday, Al-Akhbar newspaper’s front page featured the incredibly blunt headline: “Leave” above a photograph of Lebanon’s President Michel Sleiman.

It comes as no surprise that the leftist newspaper would politically disagree with the country’s leader, but the tone of using the word, “leave,” which was utilized by the March 14 movement in 2005 as they called for the resignation of then-president Emile Lahoud and more recently, when Egyptians demanded President Mubarak step down from his post in 2011, is sending a a very strong message.

Considering Sleiman had a Tweep detained for some insulting remarks he made about the president on Twitter last month, I’m thinking Friday’s headline isn’t going to bode well for Al-Akhbar.
