Lebanese Social Media Users Come to Rescue of Injured Homeless Man in Mar Mikhael

On Thursday evening, a community page was created on Facebook called Help Roger Dahan after a homeless man identified by that name was found bleeding on the streets of Mar Mikahel earlier that day.

He was suffering from severe gangrene in both his feet and the good samaritans who found him were asking for any help the Lebanese community could offer.

Comments poured in from across the social networking site and after hundreds of shares and promises of donations, food and clothing, it was announced on Friday that Dahan had been transferred to Hariri Hospital after the Health Ministry agreed to cover his expenses.

In the latest development Friday, activists said he was being taken to the Mission of Life shelter in Antelias for long-term care.

Truly, a community effort on this one, and nobody can accuse the Lebanese of being “slacktivists” here. Well done, peeps.
