Addressing the Impact of the Syrian Refugee Crisis on Lebanon

Monday, May 19, 2014
9:00am -> 5:30pm
American University of Beirut (AUB)

The Syrian refugee crisis has led to social and economic devastation far beyond Syria – more specifically, in Lebanon. The impact on host communities and the country at large has been extensive, and the severity of the situation is immense. Recognizing the obligation and responsibility to assist in addressing this humanitarian calamity, various faculties, institutes and centers at AUB have been working on different aspects of the crisis.

This one-day policy forum tackles, addresses and responds to the impact of the Syrian refugee crisis on Lebanon. It provides a space for AUB’s departments engaged in research/practice projects related to the Syrian refugee crisis to present their work and to deliberate with policymakers, UN officials, NGOs, and grassroots movements on options to alleviate the impact of the crisis and respond more efficiently to the needs of the refugees and the host communities.
