Bombino is an internationally acclaimed Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter from Agadez, Niger. His music frequently addresses Tuareg geopolitical concerns and is sung in the Tuareg language of Tamashek.

Born in 1980 in a Tuareg encampment in Niger, Omara “Bombino” Moctar is a self-taught guitarist deeply rooted in Saharan nomad identity. From a childhood marked by uprisings, war and exile, Bombino developed a unique approach to guitar playing (an instrument adopted by the Tuareg culture). Through his compositions and inspirational lyrics he gives life to the sentiments and dignity of the nomadic tribes of the Sahara and Sahel. He became recognized as one of the most powerful voices of his people, and then was heard by filmmaker Ron Wyman, and in 2006 by Keith Richards and Charlie Watts (The Rollings Stones) who invited Omara to record with them in California.

In the past two years, Bombino became a sensation on the international music circuit, playing countless shows across the world. His blend of traditional Berber rhythms with the energy of rock and roll were highly celebrated by the media. His latest rise to the limelight came with the release of “Nomad”, an album produced by Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys.
