Thaghara – Ana Wiyak

Friday, Aug 7, 2015
8:30pm -> 10:30pm
Russian Cultural Center

Thaghara started as a musical collaboration between Assil Ayyash (Vocals) and Vladimir Kurumilian (Piano).

A fusion of improvised scattered pieces revisited in different contexts, the project was consolidated to become a journey of words and music brought together into a defined set of originals, instrumental and cover songs.
The originals have been inspired by short texts written by Karim Farah and Atallah Al-Salim.

Assil Ayyash is a theatre artist and arts manager. She sang in choirs and had several singing projects. Assil is inspired by many musical genres such as Turkish, Iranian, and African music. She is interested in collaborating with musicians on different musical projects, experimenting with her voice and style.

Vladimir Kurumilian is an interior architect and a pianist. He was introduced to music since his young age. He grew up in an environment that intertwined multiple cultures, mixing up to create unique rhythms. He started transmuting every experience, every image into improvised pieces that held a specific emotional state.
