Get Fit With This Fun And Awesome Workout In Beirut

If you are looking for an alternative fitness center in Beirut, you need not look further than Clinch—a brand new boutique gym located in the UNESCO area. Clinch is the only official Yokkao training center in Lebanon, offering specialized training in the ancient art of Muay Thai, one of the most popular forms of Martial Arts.

Muay Thai is a combat sport from Thailand that is deeply rooted in Thai culture and spirituality, it mixes a combination of striking and grappling styles—an awesome way to get a full body workout without having to resort to (boring) free weights.

This gym is not like any other place I have ever seen in Beirut. A great deal of attention is placed on impeccable hygiene standards, great lighting, and top-notch air ventilation – giving the space a crisp and breathable vibe. The striking wall graffiti and minimal decor lend an authentic appeal which is a world away from the typically intimidating sweat-infused gyms you might associate with Muay Thai.

Classes are high intensity and last 60 minutes, but they’re also somehow fun. If you work at your maximum you can burn up to 800 calories per hour, and with the additional bonus of major stress release that accompanies every workout, it compounds to the most rewarding and efficient workout you’ll ever experience. Feel like you’re not a fighter? No worries. The instructors make sure to show you proper form to keep your wrists protected. You’ll be channeling your inner Rocky in no time.

But it’s not all about punching; the ‘roundhouse kick’ is a move that is a unique feature of Muay Thai. Not only is it a useful self-defense technique, it is a great way to increase your leg strength and sculpt some chiseled thighs and calves.

The best part of this gym is that the coaches and staff all create a very positive supportive atmosphere. It’s a serious place to work out but it has a chill, familial vibe as well. I have to admit that it was so refreshing to see a gym that is so specialized and professional, yet equally dedicated to making workouts fun, inspiring, and comfortable.

If Muay Thai is not your thing (though trust me, it will be if you try it), a monthly Clinch membership also gives you access to certified Les Mills fitness classes such as Body Pump, Body Attack, CX works, and Grit. All taught by professional coaches in that same awesome environment.

Best of all, you can also book private Muay Thai one-on-one classes with top local fighter, there are also classes for young kids.

After your workout, make sure to treat yourself to one of the delicious juices made by Nutri-it!
