4 Vegetarian-Friendly Spots In Beirut

Some of us may feel like we are out of options when it comes to vegetarian friendly and healthy dishes, however, we’ve had a look around and put together this list of a few of our favorites. From quinoa to pumpkin kibbeh, we’re sure you will be drooling by the end of this post.

1. Eat Sunshine Eatery

With a broad menu filled with mouthwatering options, Eat Sunshine has become well known for their healthy and vegetarian alternatives including zucchini noodles, quinoa, and delicious sandwiches on yeast-free bread. Nested in Ashrafieh, Eat Sunshine has become the go-to eatery for health fanatics and foodies alike.

We recommend: The kale salad with avocado and pumpkin seeds; the brown rice shiitake futomaki rolls; zucchini noodles with cashew hummus

2. Jai

Tucked away in Clemenceau, Jai serves a mouth-watering Thai-Indian fusion with delicious vegetarian alternatives including salads and soups. Small and cozy, Jai also has a takeaway option that you can enjoy.

We recommend: dhal makhani: a hearty bean stew with chili, served with rice

3. Aunty Salwa

Craving your mom’s cooking? Aunty Salwa has you covered. This tiny gem hidden away in Hamra serves the typical dishes our mothers used to, or still, make for us. So many of the dishes served are vegetarian including okra in oil (bemyeh b zeit), green beans in oil (loubye b zeit), burghol, and chicory (hindbeh). It’s a great place to eat a variety of delicious vegan and vegetarian meals!

We recommend: pumpkin kibbeh

4. Souk el Tayeb (Beirut’s Farmers Market)

Not only is this place fun, it’s also super healthy with dozens of vegetarian options available. Every Wednesday and Saturday, an array of different stands are presented to you selling almost everything from freshly harvested vegetables, to gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free products and detox juices, jams, sandwiches, and more!

5. Fiber

This place has been around for a few years and is known to be a healthy, low-calorie alternative to the many diners. Many items in their broad menu, including mains and desserts, are vegetarian friendly like the banana pancakes, veggie spring rolls, mushroom tapas, and pumpkin soup.
We recommend: Quinoa salad.
