Earlier today, Lebanese people awoke to the heartbreaking death of Dany Abou Haidar, a Lebanese man who took his own life this morning after reportedly losing his job.
This comes days after the tragic death of
Naji Fleiti, who died by suicide as a result of mounting financial debts and struggles, and the desperate plea for help by the Lebanese mother who had put up her
kidney for sale.
With the worsening economy, more families are in danger of losing their livelihood. It is estimated that with the beginning of the new year, almost 150,000 Lebanese employees will lose their jobs.
This is a frightening time for Lebanon. We hope that we can find a way out of this heartbreaking situation soon.
Post-edit: The national news agency (NNA) reported that Dany Abou Haidar was an employee at Debbass Holding, and according to the company, he was
NOT dismissed from his job.
