Law Proposed For Non-Lebanese Victims Of August 4 Excluded From Compensation Plan

Another day, another racist parliamentarian.
MP Georges Atallah of the “Lubnan al Qawi” bloc of Free Patriotic Movement has submitted a proposal for a law that excludes the non-Lebanese families of the victims of the August 4 explosion from the state’s compensation plan.
Atallah argued that non-Lebanese are supposed to have life insurance that their families can benefit from.
Out of the 220 victims who were murdered on August 4, 51 of them were not Lebanese with 30 being Syrian, 8 being Bangladeshi and Ethiopian, several Europeans, and one Palestinian.
This disgraceful law is embarrassing for any Lebanese person who is not racist. Human lives were lost regardless of nationalities. We sincerely hope this law is blocked.
