Lebanese-Born Rima Abdul Malak Is France’s New Minister Of Culture

Earlier today, the Elysee Palace revealed a new cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne. Of the appointed ministers is French-Lebanese politician Rima Abdul Malak who was appointed Minister of Culture.



Leaving Lebanon when she was ten years old, Abdul Malak spent the remainder of her childhood in Lyon where she discovered a passion for theater and the arts.

A graduate of Sciences Po, Abdul Malak had her first stint in French politics when she became cultural advisor to the mayor of Paris back in 2008. In 2019 she would become the cultural advisor to President Emmanuel Macron.



Abdul Malak still holds Lebanese citizenship.
