Breaking: First Confirmed Case Of Monkeypox In Lebanon

A statement shared by the Ministry of Public Health revealed the first confirmed case of Monkeypox in Lebanon.

“The positive case is currently quarantining at home, and the Ministry is following up with people who came into contact with them,” said the statement.

The Ministry asked that people follow protocol by keeping safe distances from those infected, and not sharing their personal items.

Reports of this strange and rare viral infection have been popping up all over Europe, US, Canada, and Australia throughout the month of May. While the virus is common in some parts of Central and West Africa, there are now ten confirmed cases in the UK so health authorities are keeping an eye on its spread.

Symptoms include high fever, headache, muscle aches, and exhaustion, and transmission occurs when a person comes into contact with an animal or human contaminated with the virus.
