Lebanese Designers Shine On Cannes Red Carpet

At the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival, Martin Scorsese and the Weekend may be getting standing ovations, but it’s Lebanese designers, as usual, who have truly shone through on the festival’s red carpet. Stars adorned in the beautiful silks of Elie Saab and Zuhair Murad have graced the iconic festival with great looks and even better style. We’ve compiled all these looks for you right here, so sit back and enjoy a festival of Lebanese fashion.

Actress and Academy Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones headlined the incredible collection of Elie Saab-stars, wearing a rich deep red gown to the screening of Jeanne du Barry. Zeta-Jones was joined in the Elie Saab family by husband Michael Douglas, and daughter Carys Zeta Douglas, who celebrated Michael Douglas’ lifetime achievement award at the festival.

Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio mesmerized onlookers at the festival’s opening ceremony, wearing an Elie Saab hooded sheer maroon ensemble beautifully embellished with sequins. Meanwhile, at the Indiana Jones premiere, Actress Gong Li captured the attention with an all-red caped jumpsuit from Saab.

At that same Indiana Jones premiere, actress Calista Flockhart looked beautiful in a Zuhair Murad black tulle gown with velvet trim and bow alongside husband and titular star Harrison Ford. Also adorned in Murad’s creation, Portuguese model Sara Sampiao looked amazing in sun orange draped chiffon gown with feathered trim.

At the Kuru Otlar Ustune premiere, Belgian model Lydia Bielen shone in a rose jersey draped dress with beaded appliques, dramatic leg slit and hoodie. Tunisian actress and TV host Leila Ben Khalifa also looked wonderful at the May December premiere, wearing a Murad emerald jewel embroidered tulle gown.

UN Goodwill Ambassador and international model Sabrina Dhowre Elba looked radiant in an Elie Saab beaded silver gown with a braided design along the corset at the Firebrand (Le Jeu De La Reine) red carpet. While model Jasmine Tookes served ravishing looks in a Zuhair Murad mustard off-shoulder taffeta gown with a pleated bodice and thigh-high slit at the Club Zero premiere.

As Cannes continues to roll through with its star-studded red carpets, we are excited to see Lebanese designers continuing to shine on the international stage. Let us know what you thought of this year’s looks!
