10 Ridiculous Moments In Recent Lebanese History

If there’s one word you can use to describe the political scene in Lebanon, it’s probably: ridiculous. This country does not make any sense, and sometimes the collective insanity of living here is really shoved in your face. Here are 11 of the most ridiculous/surreal moments in Lebanon in recent times.

1. Riad Salameh’s extravagant farewell

Cigars w zaffe, what a fitting farewell for an icon and hero.

2. Wiam Wahab getting into a fight on live TV

You have to give it up Wahab, he is really dedicated to making some prime content.

3. Stupid fucking presidential votes

Lubnan awalan, Lubnan awalan, Lubnan awalan, Michel Mouawad, Lubnan awalan, Diktator 3adel, Nelson Mandela….someone stop them.

4. The Samir Kassir Garden Pool Debacle

The best solution to some kids just having a little dip in a pool during the summer heat is to completely drain it. Logic.

5. The never-ending parliament sleepover

Are they in there right now? Is it still going on? Has it done anything other than make them look ridiculous?

6. The Georges Kordahi Saga

Kordahi’s reign of controversies began as soon as he got into job, starting off with him forbidding “assaults against the dignity of politicians”, before then making what were deemed to be inflammatory comments towards KSA and the United Arab Emirates, and finally expressing his desire for a military coup in Lebanon.

And these are not quite political, but still ridiculous…

7. Carlos Ghosn’s existence

What does he do all day? What does he eat? What are his thoughts on Barbenheimer? I guess he’s too busy suing Nissan for a whole billion dollars.

8. Movie Ban Frenzy

Just this year alone, we’ve had 7 movies banned just in the last 2 years, and they’re always for the most ridiculous and arbitrary reasons.

@beirut.com land of free speech and free media btw! 🤥 #lebanon #beirut #movies #spidermanacrossthespiderverse #spiderman #cinema #thor #marvel ♬ ANOTHER ONE THANK YOU – notukam

9. The Lebanese-Egyptian Food Wars

We’re just happy Gamal Abdel Nasser isn’t here to witness this mess. But there’s only one way to settle it, take the Quiz!

10. Anghami torturing its own paying customers

Oh you want to play a song? Best I can do is a 30 second snippet. People were really not happy.
