If you’re in the mood to try somewhere new, this café and bar is worth a visit, and you’ll be supporting local while you’re at it.
The Local is the newest addition to the streets of Gemmayze, located a stone’s throw away from HUSK. A concept by The Stray Compass, it carries the same focus on thoughtful design and a strong connection to local craftsmanship.

Inside, it works as a café and bar alongside a concept store, where everything is locally sourced or made. You’ll also find a curated selection of gear and jackets from The Stray Compass.
It’s the kind of place that shifts easily from day to night. Mornings and afternoons are more café-style, with coffee and light bites, while evenings lean into a laid-back bar vibe.

One of the more playful highlights on the menu is their “hangover cure” espresso bomb. It’s an espresso shot dropped into what looks like a fizzy drink, creating a mix that’s energizing and refreshing (especially after a night out).
Its location also keeps it slightly tucked away, making it feel like a low-key escape from the city’s busier spots. And it’s easy to gatekeep.

For more information, make sure to check out their Instagram. They’re open daily from 10:30 AM until 10 PM, and until 12 AM on Saturdays. Click here for the exact location.
