No, GTA VI Hasn’t Been Banned In Lebanon (At Least Not Yet)

If you’ve been scrolling through social media today, you’ve probably come across posts claiming that Grand Theft Auto VI won’t be available in Lebanon when it launches on November 19.

The rumor appears to have started shortly after GTA VI pre-orders opened on June 25, when users spotted Lebanon listed among a number of territories excluded from a promotion on PlayStation’s GTA VI page.

The problem? The exclusion doesn’t actually appear to apply to the game itself.

The list in question is found under the eligibility terms for a pre-order bonus that includes a complimentary month of GTA+, Rockstar’s subscription service. According to the disclaimer, consumers in Bahrain, China, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Russia, and Taiwan are not eligible for that specific promotional offer.

In other words, the restriction is tied to the bonus, not necessarily to purchasing GTA VI.

At the time of writing, there has been no official announcement from Lebanese authorities, Rockstar Games, Take-Two Interactive, or PlayStation stating that GTA VI is banned in Lebanon. But that doesn’t mean the game’s availability is guaranteed. Grand Theft Auto titles have a long history of attracting scrutiny due to their violence, criminal themes, drug references, and sexual content. Regional regulators could still impose restrictions, require edits, delay the release, or make other decisions closer to launch.

For now, however, the disclaimer being shared online appears to relate specifically to the GTA+ promotional bonus rather than GTA VI itself.

If you’re planning to pick up the game, the safest approach is to check your local PlayStation Store account directly and keep an eye on official announcements as the November launch date approaches.
