After a decade of creating some of Beirut’s best high-end artisanal French pastries, Des Choux et Des Idees has announced that it will be closing its doors this month. The beloved patisserie has been a fixture on the city’s food scene for 10 years now, and it’s a bittersweet goodbye to one of Beirut’s most cherished spots.
First opening its doors on Abdel Wahab St. (and later on Rue de l’Independance) in Achrafieh, DCDI built its identity around quality, offering French pastry made with the finest ingredients in a city that came to love it deeply. Over the years, it became a go-to for croissants, viennoiseries, and everything in between, earning a loyal following that, as founder Chef Samer Kobeissi put it, became dear friends.
In a heartfelt letter addressed to their community, Kobeissi cited the ongoing uncertain conditions in Lebanon as the reason behind the difficult decision to suspend operations. “Ce n’est pas un adieu, c’est un au revoir,” the post read, not a goodbye, but a see you later.
Des Choux et Des Idees will officially close on Sunday, May 17th, 2026, end of day. If you’d like to stop by for one last croissant and a proper farewell, now is the time.
