Lebanon officially launched its first public intercity electric bus line, and it’s now running along the coastal highway between Beirut and Jbeil. And no, they won’t stop working eza n2ata3et l kahraba…
The new route operates through four fully electric buses connecting commuters to several main stops along the way, including Jdeideh, Antelias, Jounieh, and Kaslik, making daily trips a lot easier for anyone heading north from the capital. The project also introduced multiple upgraded bus stops, a digital operations system, and solar-powered charging stations installed at the Jbeil bus station.
The project has been years in the making and faced plenty of delays before finally launching, but it’s now officially on the road. One of the best parts is that the buses are wheelchair accessible! It’s a solid step toward making commuting more practical and accessible for everyone, from students and employees to older passengers and people with disabilities.
Since it’s launch in 2024, Lebanon’s public bus system has made major improvements. That includes its availability on Google Transit, making all public bus routes and schedules available via Google Maps.
Small changes like these are making public transportation feel more organized, accessible, and realistic for daily life in Lebanon. Hopefully, this is only the beginning, with even more improvements to infrastructure in the coming years.
