Planning a trip to Lebanon? Depending on your nationality, you may be able to get a visa on arrival at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport or any Lebanese border crossing. Here’s what you need to know before you travel.
Citizens of the following countries can enter Lebanon without arranging a visa in advance:
– Saudi Arabia
– Kuwait
– United Arab Emirates
– Bahrain
– Qatar
– Oman
– Jordan
GCC citizens receive a free visa valid for 6 months, stamped at the airport or any border post. Jordanian citizens receive a free visa valid for 3 months. Both can be extended to one year, free of charge, through the General Directorate of General Security.
Family members, domestic workers, drivers, and bodyguards accompanying GCC or Jordanian nationals may also be eligible. The employer’s name and nationality must be noted on the employees’ passports, and employees must hold a valid residency permit from the employer’s home country.
Citizens of the following countries receive a free one-month visa upon arrival, extendable to a total stay of up to 3 months:
Europe: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malta, Moldova, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom

To receive a visa on arrival, visitors from these countries must provide:
– A phone number
– A current address in Lebanon (hotel or private)
– Any change of address must be reported to the General Directorate of General Security
Turkish citizens visiting Lebanon for tourism are eligible for a free multiple-entry visa valid for 3 months, issued at the airport or any border post.
Citizens of the following Arab and African countries can receive a one-month visa extendable to 3 months, but must meet additional conditions at entry:
Algeria, Comoros, Djibouti, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Jordan, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Somalia, Sudan, Tunisia, Yemen
Required documents:
– A round-trip airline ticket
– A hotel reservation or residential address with phone number
– A sum equivalent to USD 2,000 in cash, or a certified bank check of the same amount
A visa valid for up to 11 months can be issued at the airport or border post for:
– Businessmen, directors, CEOs, doctors, engineers, and lawyers who hold a valid residency permit in any GCC country
Note: This extended visa applies to the professional only. Spouses and children traveling on foreign passports are assessed separately based on their own nationality and circumstances.
For investors, businessmen, and traders from Arab countries visiting Lebanon for the first time, a 6-month entry visa can be arranged with:
– An official accreditation or invitation from IDAL (Investment Development Authority of Lebanon)
– Or a formal invitation from a Lebanese businessman, along with proof of accommodation and a certified copy of the commercial register
Arab students accepted into Lebanese schools or universities can receive a free 3-month entry visa upon presenting:
– A student ID (if available)
– A letter of admission or enrollment from a Lebanese educational institution
Foreign students are assessed based on their individual nationality and circumstances.
Travelers from countries not covered above must obtain a visa from a Lebanese embassy or consulate before traveling, or secure prior authorization from the General Directorate of General Security. This also applies to:
– Anyone traveling for work (a 3-month work visa requires approval from both General Security and the Ministry of Labor)
– Artists and performers
– Domestic workers not accompanying GCC or diplomatic employers
– Certain nationalities flagged for additional security screening
