No More Guessing: Spinneys New Avocado Scanner Checks Ripeness

Picking the perfect avocado just got a little easier, or at least a little less “pokey”.

Spinneys “The Hub” in Antelias has installed an Avocado scanner that tells you exactly how ripe your avocado is before you even buy it. Just hold your avocado up to the device and it’ll let you know if it’s very firm (ripen at home for a few days), ripe and firm (perfect for salads), ripe and soft (ready for guacamole), or very ripe (eat today).

Is it revolutionary? Not really, people have been squeezing avocados to figure this out for decades. But if you’ve ever cut into one too early and ended up with a rock-hard center, or waited too long and gotten mush, this takes the guesswork out of it.

Small gimmick, but a fun one to spot next time you’re at Spinneys Antelias.
