Nacera Belaza -Cie. Nacera Belaza (Algeria/France) :
Algerian born Nacera Belaza is a choreographer and dancer who now resides in France. Belaza sought dance as a medium to convey her ideas after initially studying literature and film, both of which now influence her work.
Belaza set up her own company in 1989. She has since gone on to create a number of works for the stage and theatre including, most recently, Paris-Alger (2003), Le Cri (2008), Les sentinelles (2010), and Le temps Scellé (2010). She has also collaborated with well-known film and theatre directors such as Ayad Ziani Cherif for Nedjma and Gianni Fornet for La Pluie. Belaza regularly teaches in France and abroad. She is currently working on a new project: setting up a contemporary dance company in Algeria.
