The Most Original Date Ideas In Beirut

Bored of the old “dinner and movie back at my place” date? We’ve compiled a list of the most original date ideas in Beirut, so next time you and yours are up for a good time, go through the following ideas:

Go graffiti hunting

Here’s a little game for ya! Search #beirutgraffiti on Instagram, choose 10 graffiti walls – based on proximity or which ones you think are the coolest – then go on a hunt for them. Adventurous and pretty fun, your date will thank you for this one.

Hit up Blue Note Cafe, one of the oldest jazz scenes in Beirut

Founded in 1987, this pub scene was one of the busiest in Beirut – even my father used to tell me about it! Re-live the golden age with your loved one and pretend you’re in the early 90s in a pub in Hamra as you watch artists perform everything from jazzy blues to tarab music.

Take a Tango dancing class together at Mazen Kiwan The Academy

Tango dances are said to be sensual and sexy, so why not give that a shot to try to spice up the date a little bit? Mazen Kiwan The Academy has designated times for Tango classes so you might want to check their schedules. They also have several other dance classes, if you’re not into Ballroom.

Go on all the rides at Beirut Luna Park in Manara

What can be better than to steal a kiss from your beloved on top of the ferris wheel in an iconic spot in Beirut, with the picturesque coastline of the city as your backdrop? Nothing, we assume.

Rent a kayak, and row your way through Rawshe

On this date, you guys will go to Sporting Club Beach, spend a couple of hours chilling and fighting over the closing/opening of the umbrella, because one of you wants to tan and the other doesn’t. You then make up and rent a kayak. Once you head out to sea, and you reach the part where your partner turns around, smiles and says, “this is pretty is cool”, and when you reach that moment when the sun is hitting their eyes in the most perfect way – remember us.

Attend an open mic night, and maybe even get on that podium!

Sidewalk Beirut hosts an open mic night every Wednesday at 8 PM in Riwaq Cafe, so head down there with your lover, and watch other poeple pour their hearts and brains out in the form of monologues, poems, and sometimes even stand up comedy.

Sample wine together at Cantina Sociale

Fresh, vibrant, and gorgeous is how I would describe Cantina’s outside terrace. They are unofficially known as the wine haven of Beirut, so if you and yours are wine enthusiasts you will love this place. They also have an impressive menu if you want to dig in while you’re at it. The place hosts wine tasting sessions every other week, so keep an eye out for events on Beirut.com so you could know when to join in next time.

Bounce, climb, and somersault the day away at Fizz Zone

Who said games are only for kids? Let your inner child out at this happy place with your date, and playfully push each other into the massive foam pit Fizz Zone has. Challenge each other to basketball dunks and somersaults, and see how this tops a fancy dinner date any day.

Use your wits, and each other, to find clues in one of these escape rooms

Immerse yourself in an experience that will put your and your date’s mind to the test. See who can be able to emerge victorious and taunt each other about it later at one of most mind-boggling games in Beirut.

Go to a besara (fortune teller) in Choueifat and have your fortunes told together

Now this is a weird one, but friends of mine tried it and said it was a good time, so here goes: there’s a besara who resides in Choueifat and is known to be one of the best in the country. A fortune telling session together can be funny and enjoyable, if you both are not believers. However, if you are, well we suggest you don’t go together, because things can get dramatic.
