Three Lebanese Women Are Cycling Through Europe For A Great Cause

Just go the extra mile, or the extra thousand miles.

Lebanon on Wheels is back in action this summer in its fourth edition, led by The Youth of The Order of Malta in Lebanon and Germany. This year, and for the first time, three young Lebanese women have hopped on bicycles to kick off their Lebanon on Wheels journey on July 1st.

Meet Mivida Abou Assi, Alexandra Licha, and Diane Moussa, the three Lebanese women currently cycling their way from Lithuania to Munich. Dedicated volunteers and members at The Youth Of The Order Of Malta, the women have wholeheartedly jumped at the opportunity, despite their minimal cycling experience… and it’s all for a good cause.

Their goal is to raise €15,000 to provide fours boys with disabilities in Lebanon with quality education for the coming years. Talented kids with limited mobility, Moussa, Yamen, Joey, and Oussama can’t wait to start learning after the summer. The sum raised will hopefully be funding their education with an in-house tutor who will be closely assisting the boys.

Beirut By Bike and The Bike Kitchen supported the ladies’ heartwarming journey with bikes, clothing, equipment, and other necessary training.

Every stop in Europe is an opportunity for Mivida, Diane, and Alexandra to get the word out on their mission and to gather donations. Once they reach Munich at the end of July, the volunteers will hand off Lebanon On Wheels to two other German volunteers. And, they’ll be completing the second leg of the journey to Athens.

If you’re interested in keeping up with the ladies’ journey, follow Lebanon on Wheels and expect an unfiltered take of their fun times (we’re talking turning a sleeping bag into a raincoat and more hilarious moments!).
