Rest House Tyr Completely Destroyed, Burned Down

Last night in the city of Tyr, approximately 100 protestors charged and entered the Rest House Tyr (istira7at sour) hotel, destroying and burning the property down.

Some protestors interviewed on local TV stations stated that this resort was primarily owned by Randa Berri, wife of the Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri. The management of the hotel maintained that ownership was solely for the Khalifeh family.

The property is also notorious for it’s beachfront positioning, a feature that many believe violates Tyr’s public beach by privatizing it.

This wasn’t the only act of this nature, with protestors around Beirut and Tripoli directing their anger at various banks and companies that they deemed to be owned by Lebanon’s 1%.
