Raya El Hassan Confirms: Convoy That Shot At Protestors Was Ali Hassan Khalil’s
Last night on an episode of “3eshreen 30” on LBCI, Minister of Interior and Municipalities Raya El Hassan confirmed that the MP convoy that fired shots to scare off protestors on November 19, 2019, was that of Ali Hassan Khalil, Minister of Finance.
For those who don’t know the story, exactly one month ago, an unknown member of parliament’s convoy barreled through protestors gathered near the parliament to protest a scheduled parliamentary session. The same convoy also fired shots in the air to clear protestors, and troubling videos of the incident immediately went viral on social media.
While people on the ground were saying it was Ali Hassan Khalil’s, who had been one of five MPs present at parliament, Khalil vehemently denied the allegations, saying he was in his office at the time.
Maybe the truth does come out in Lebanon after all, but the question is: will anyone do anything about it?
