On today’s episode of “wtf?”, Internal Security Forces in Lebanon have tracked down and busted a man for raising a crocodile at his home in Ain El Remmeneh, Beirut.
Based on a complaint filed by an environmental organization, the ISF deemed the crocodile a danger to pedestrians after it fell out of the balcony multiple times.

The organization also raised concerns for the crocodile’s welfare, as keeping it in a human home is a violation of the Animal Protection And Welfare law and CITES (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora), which Lebanon has signed on, and goes against the recommendations of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
The animal was later identified as a “Nile Crocodile”, one of the most dangerous and second-largest crocodilian species in the world. It can grow up to 5.5 meters, weigh over 250 kilograms, and live up to 50 years old. It can also hunt any living creature, even at its current size.
As a result, the 39 year old man was brought in for questioning and the crocodile was handed off to a specialized organization, where it will be taken care of in a suitable environment until the British reserve can receive it.
Well, that’s one less crocodile to worry about. Now on to the remaining 128 in the parliament!
