French Foreign Minister Compares Lebanon’s Collapse To Titanic Sinking
In a media interview with French daily Le Figaro, French foreign minister Jean-Yves Le Drian compared Lebanon’s political and economic collapse to the Titanic’s sinking, only without the music.
“Lebanon is the Titanic without the orchestra,” Le Drian said. “The Lebanese are in complete denial as they sink, and there isn’t even the music.”
This comes a week before French President Emmanuel Macron’s scheduled visit to Lebanon to follow up on the cabinet formation. This is his third visit to the country since August 4 in an attempt to push for crucial reforms and much-needed change.
It seems everyone is aware of Lebanon’s downfall, except for Lebanon’s politicians themselves.
