#BoycottDrFood Trends After He Bullies Kaake Vendor

TikTok self-described food “influencer” George Dib, more famously known as Dr. Food, is currently under fire for his most recent review of a Kaake vendor in the city of Tripoli. In the video, Dib is seen completely disrespecting the older gentleman, calling him “cheap” for the amount of filling in the Kaake.

The vendor, who was later identified on social media as Haitham Dannawi, has been selling Kaak in Tripoli for the past 24 years, and currently prices one at around 5,000LBP a piece – a meager amount considering the grueling economic crisis.

To make matters worse, “Dr. Food” went live on Instagram last night to defend himself, saying that he is extremely down to Earth otherwise he would not have accepted to eat from such a disgusting looking vendor. He has proven himself to be an all-around awful person.

Since the video was posted, many people expressed their rage towards his blatant disrespect and disregard for the current situation, as #BoycottDrFood trends on all social media platforms. Here are some of the reactions:

Haitham Dannawi is one of the millions of people in Lebanon who are struggling to make a living amid such hard times. Tripoli alone represents a great deal of the impoverished population in Lebanon living in troubling conditions as the Lebanese Lira continues to plummet against the dollar.

It is the duty of those with such large platforms to reinforce community building and support local businesses during these times, and obviously, not for the purpose of increasing your engagement and views in order to add more money into your already enlarged wallet.

This is a reminder to support such businesses as much as possible.
